DEAR MEMBERS: HERE’S AN EXAMPLE QUESTION
I am an American male of East Indian descent and 31 years old. I would like to make my nose more straight (deviated septum) and I feel the shape of my nose curves down too much when viewing it from the side. Also the tissue between my nostrils seems to be hanging too much. I know these are just photos and a face-to-face consultation would be better, but what can you recommend and how much would it cost to enhance my nose. Also do Korean clinics have experience doing rhinoplasty on caucasian face types?
Thank you for uploading your photos. Below is the doctor’s response after reviewing your photos. For your case, I recommend rhinoplasty using septal extension. This procedure uses your own septal cartilage to build a new framework for the nasal tip. In case the septal cartilage is too weak or small, your own ear cartilage may be used together or instead.
To raise the nasal bridge, a silicon implant will be inserted, and this will make a natural smooth curve from the start of the nose to the tip. From looking at your photos, the hanging columella or the deviation does not seem severe. A more accurate consultation will be given after having a closer assessment on your situation when you visit.
The estimated price is 5,250,000 KRW. For the procedure, post-operative treatments, and check-ups, you are recommended to stay in Korea for 7-8 days. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you for uploading your photos and your explanation about your condition was well noted. After observing your photos, here are the possible surgery recommendations and pricing information for you:
Bulbous nose reduction: bridge + tip reduction, nostril reduction, columella reduction, lateral osteotomy (narrowing a wide nose bridge), bridge + tip implant if required. From the photos, you have a bulbous nose, which requires overall reduction.
First, the unnecessary fat and tissue inside the nose are removed. If necessary, the nasal bone of the bridge can be fractured and push towards the center with hump reduction to create a slimmer nose bridge. Next, cartilage in the tip which is wide is tied together to reduce the actual volume of the nose tip, or skin from the bottom of the nose is incised in a wedge-shape and sutured for the nostril reduction. After that, the cartilage from the patient (nasal septum cartilage or ear cartilage) is grafted to make the tip sharp and pointy. The average price for nose reduction surgery is 6,000,000 KRW ~ 7,000,000 KRW (*price includes medical exam, anesthesia, and recovery room usage*/ price may vary depending on the patient’s condition/ price may be negotiated during the consultation*)
For the hanging columella, we recommend having a tip plasty, which lift up hanging tissue, and this would require using your own ear cartilage and septal cartilage for support. To straighten the bridge of your nose, either a hump correction or deviation correction would be used, but it’s hard to tell from the photo, so a in person consultation is recommended. In terms of costs, a Tip Plasty is usually around 3,140,000 KRW ( to lift and give a curve on tip) and Hump Correction: is 780,000 KRW. For Deviation Correction (correcting the deviated bridge of your nose) the cost is 7,870,000 KRW (this includes tip plasty as well).
Please be advised that any consultation price given online is only rough one based on the description and pictures you have uploaded, and might change during the actual in-clinic consultation depending on any changes with the content of the surgery, actual diagnosis, your physical condition, etc…
Thank you for posting your question. Firstly it’s important to note that everyone has an asymmetrical face, and no one is an exception.
From the photos you uploaded, it appears that your philtrum (the vertical groove in the middle area between your nose and upper lip) is also deviated, so straighter nose is possible, but perfectly straight nose is not possible; as your facial symmetry is shifted to the right.
Our doctors can make your nose straighter, and bring the tip up to resolve the columellar show by using your own septal cartilage from your nose, and since you have a caucasian face type you may have ample septal cartilage to be harvested for the procedure.
Our facial contouring specialists perform rhinoplasty as well, and take facial harmony and balance into account when performing rhinoplasty. And rest assured that they are very experienced performing procedures on faces from a wide ranging of ethnicities, such as caucasian, middle eastern, South Asian and Latino.
